Maryland Day is a cherished annual event that honors the state's rich history and vibrant culture. Originating in 1903 as an educational initiative, it commemorates the landing of the first European settlers on March 25, 1634, at St. Clement's Island, marking the founding of the Maryland colony.

🧭 Exploring Maryland's Historical Milestones

Maryland boasts several pioneering achievements:

  • First Dental School: Established in 1840, the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery was the world's first dental school.

  • Innovations in Industry: Maryland was home to one of the earliest umbrella factories and played a significant role in the development of the railroad system.

  • Pioneering Notary Education: In 2022, Michol Bobb, founder of the Notary Training Network, became the first in-state approved notary public trainer in Maryland since the 2021 education law mandate. Her program offers in-person classes and self-study modules, focusing on foundational training and professional development for notary applicants.
